The field of philosophy should be considered the oldest field of human sciences in the world. This knowledge has a long history in Islam and Iran. With the advent of Islam and the special consideration of this divine religion for rationality, this knowledge grew among Muslim thinkers, and these scientists took advantage of the findings of the philosophers of the past and were inspired by the teachings of revelation to compile a knowledge that is known today as Islamic philosophy. will be In the tradition of Islamic thought, we are faced with another knowledge called Kalam, whose thinkers investigate, study and defend religious beliefs. Before the establishment of the university in Iran, these two knowledges were of interest in the academic fields, and they are still the same, but with the establishment of the university, they were taught for the first time as a university course in 1313 in the faculty of reasonable and transferable (modern theology faculty) of Tehran University. .

Philosophy in its general sense includes absolute intellectual knowledge and includes theoretical and practical wisdom and additional philosophies. But in its special sense, it is the knowledge that is referred to under the headings of "theology", "first philosophy", "higher philosophy", "metaphysics" or "general science". Although in Islamic philosophy, the emphasis is on the first philosophy, but other branches are also considered. The thinkers of this knowledge try to ask the most general and fundamental questions of mankind in various fields and provide them with deep answers based on rational reasoning. Thinkers have been trying to understand the world with this approach, and they believed that achieving the truth depends on knowing the objective world - as it really is. Issues such as existence, knowledge, causality, movement, time, God, man, etc. are the issues that are dealt with in this knowledge.
